At a very young age, teachers recognized that Ms. Victoriya had a special talent for playing the piano and singing. Throughout her childhood, she attended the best music schools and developed her talent.
Ms. Victoriya earned her Master’s Degree in Piano, Voice and Choir Conducting studies from the esteemed Dragomanov University in Kiev, Ukraine. Ms. Victoriya represented Ukraine touring and performing throughout Europe and the United States.
Ms. Victoriya founded the Alvic School of Music in 2000. For the past 20 years, she has dedicated her life to the development of musical enrichment— teaching and mentoring students at St. Helen School in Chicago. To date, hundreds of students have learned to play piano and sing from Ms. Berezhna and have performed in scores of recitals, festivals and competitions.
“I am so proud to watch my students’ musical talent develop through their formative years. It is so exciting when they come back to visit me years later and tell me they learned to love piano at St. Helen and that playing the piano remains an integral part of their life.”
In recent years, students expressed the desire to learn to play duets and ensembles. Ms. Victoriya welcomed this challenge, worked diligently with her students, and many now play duets and ensembles at recitals—quickly becoming an audience favorite.
Ms. Victoriya’s approach is simple—work with each student to develop an individualized education plan that maximizes their growth in a fun and effective fashion. “It is critical that students enjoy their piano time, this results in greater dedication to skill development and home practice,” said Ms. Victoriya.
